Charlotte

Charlotte is a wildlife conservation and zoo biology student at The University of Salford in the UK. She has previously completed a BA and MA in English and American studies, a teaching degree and several years of teaching.

Her previous experience covers a wide range of areas, from classical singing with The Halle choir as a choral scholar to writing pieces around the field of recycling and climate change for CBBC Newsround. Charlotte has also spoken at natural history conferences, and presented at the Chester Zoo youth symposium in 2023.

In regard to her scientific interest, Charlotte is fascinated most of all by invertebrates like moths and butterflies. On an expedition to Skockholm, a small island in the UK known as Puffin island, she surveyed birds and grey seals, but was most inspired by her work with moths there, and hopes to one day discover a new species of moth for herself.

Outside of her professional work, Charlotte loves to horse ride and volunteers at her local stable and science club. She is also treasurer of her university scuba diving, a volunteer Girlguiding leader and an avid hiker. Next year she is set to study at Ohio Northern University as an ONU polar bear for her exchange year, completing a field semester and further research around all things invertebrates
