What is STEM Untapped?

STEM Untapped CIC is a community-driven social enterprise, powered by Untapped Innovation, dedicated to making STEM more inclusive by connecting young people with diverse, relatable and accessible role models working across science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Since our founding in 2021, we have focused on breaking down barriers to STEM by giving young people authentic insight into the exciting and fulfilling careers and opportunities available across STEM sectors. Our student-led podcast empowered secondary school students to interview professionals from our diverse network, asking their own questions and exploring real career journeys in real conversation. Alongside this, we created community-driven blogs, videos and digital resources that showcased a wide range of STEM careers, helping young people see themselves represented in the sector while providing valuable insights and resources for educators.

In 2025, we transitioned from digital content delivery to direct educational engagement through a strategic partnership with Techniquest, Wales’ leading science discovery centre. Together, we combine STEM Untapped’s diverse network of industry role models with Techniquest’s extensive relationships with schools across Wales to deliver inspiring, hands-on STEM programmes for both primary and secondary pupils.

At the heart of everything we do are young people. Our programmes are designed to inspire curiosity, raise aspirations and create meaningful connections between education and industry. By working closely with schools, teacher, STEM students and professionals, we are building a more inclusive pre-career ecosystem that equips the next generation with the confidence, knowledge and role models they need to pursue STEM education and careers.
